  24. --- WELCOME TO EMACSDLG ---
  25. EmacsDLG uses the same command set as the popular MicroEmacs text editor.
  26. If you use any flavor of Emacs editor on other computers, you'll be at
  27. home with EmacsDLG.  Most of your favorite command sequences will work.
  28.  
  29. --- WHAT IS THIS [@[@[@? ---
  30. If you see [@[@[@ when you type, your BBS settings are incorrect for your
  31. terminal program.  Go to the options menu in the BBS and turn OFF the ANSI
  32. Cursor Positioning option.  Or, switch to a terminal program that supports
  33. a larger set of ANSI sequences.

  35. --- CUT AND PASTE ---
  36. Press ESC . (period) to set the "mark".  Everything between the mark and
  37. the cursor is called the "region".  Press ESC W to copy the region into
  38. the "kill" buffer.  Press ^W to cut the region into the kill buffer.
  39. Press ^Y to paste the kill buffer into the message at the cursor.  The
  40. ^K command kills the current line, placing it into the kill buffer.

  42. --- REPEAT COUNTS ---
  43. Any command can be repeated multiple times.  Press ^U, then enter the
  44. repeat count, then enter the command.  ^U 50 ^D will delete 50 characters.
  45.  
  46. --- MESSAGE QUOTING ---
  47. Press ESC Q or ^Q to bring up the quote window.  Move the cursor to the
  48. line you want to quote, and press RETURN to copy it to the message window.
  49. You can also press ^X Q to copy the entire quote into the message window.

  51. --- SPELLING CHECKER ---
  52. Press ESC C to run the spelling checker.  Possible misspellings are shown
  53. and you may enter replacements.

  55. --- FORTUNE COOKIES ---
  56. You can have a random "fortune cookie" quote appended to the end of each
  57. of your messages.  Use the ESC Z command to turn on this option.
  58.  
  59. --- BROADCAST MESSAGES ---
  60. Another on-line user may send you a broadcast message.  You can reply
  61. without leaving the editor by using the ESC ! command.
  62.  
  63. --- KEYBOARD MACRO ---
  64. Press ^X ( to begin recording your keystrokes, and ^X ) to stop recording.
  65. Press ^X E to execute your recorded keystrokes.  Very handy!
  66.  
  67. --- MESSAGE HEADER ---
  68. ESC J will let you enter a new SUBJECT for the message, while ESC T will
  69. let you redirect the message to a different person.
  70.  
  71. --- WORD WRAPPING ---
  72. Confused about the word wrapping?  Press ESC A to cause the current
  73. paragraph to be reformatted.
  74.  
  75. --- CUSTOMIZE!!! ---
  76. Use the ESC Z command to change your COLORS, QUOTE GREETING, FORTUNE
  77. COOKIES, and other options to your liking.

  79. --- SYSOP-ONLY ---
  80. ^X^W will write the message to a file, ^X^P will print the message.

  82. --- SAVE AND EXIT ---
  83. Press ^Z to save your message and return to the BBS.  Press ESC twice to
  84. abort the message and return to the BBS without saving it.
